AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Congressman Jared Golden, D-Maine, will face a primary challenge next year from a well-known Democrat.
State Auditor Matt Dunlap announced Monday he will run against Golden for the Democratic nomination in Maine’s Second Congressional District.
Dunlap has served as state auditor since 2022.
He also served as Secretary of State from 2013 and 2021.
On his Facebook page, Dunlap writes: “Mainers are stuck with skyrocketing health care costs, a government shutdown, and a broken Congress. Jared Golden caved to Trump instead of fighting for us. Jared Golden said Trump is ‘OK’ and that we’ll be ‘just fine’ but Mainers are being hurt by his policies.”
