WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- The Connecticut Foodshare approved $1 million in emergency response funding amid the government shutdown, officials with the food bank announced Monday.
The funds will be used to support additional food distributions for federal employees affected and increase food to over 600 agency partners and programs.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Women, Infants, and Children haven't been impacted for October, but could be jeopardized if the government shutdown is prolonged.
Connecticut Foodshare is a food bank that serves residents and distributes food to agency partners and mobile food locations.
