BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH) — Lake Compounce celebrated 179 years of fun and entertainment on Monday in Bristol.

The park is the longest continuously-operated amusement park in the United States.

In a Facebook post, the park wrote, "Happy Birthday to us! 179 years of fun, thrills & memories at Lake Compounce, the longest continuously operating amusement park in America! Thanks for celebrating with us year after year!"

Lake Compounce's Phantom Fall Fest happening now at the park.

Visitors can experience haunted houses, including the new "Project Nightmare," spooky rides and fall thrills at the park until Sunday, Oct. 26.
