West Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputies are searching for an inmate who escaped shorty before 9 a.m. Monday while being transported from Webster Parish to another facility Monday.

The inmate, Randall Boyett, who was originally arrested on drug-related counts, escaped in the area around U.S. 190 and Poydras Bayou Road. Other agencies are assisting the sheriff's office in the search.

Boyett, 23, is a white male, 5'7" and 150 pounds, who was last seen wearing a white shirt and black jogging pants. Boyett is shackled with handcuffs at the waist.

Anyone who sees a man matching this description is asked not to approach him and to contact 911 immediately, the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office said.
