The Seattle Mariners were pretty close to must win territory in Sunday’s Game 2 ALDS matchup with the Detroit Tigers. Losing the first two on the road would have been a harbinger of doom. Instead, Jorge Polanco hit a pair of solo shots off of Tarik Skubal, and after fumbling the lead, the Mariners big bats came through to produce the game-winning run against Tigers’ reliever Kyle Finnegan.

The Tigers struggles at the plate showed few signs of abating in this one either. They’ve actually been the more disciplined lineup in both games, drawing a total of nine walks against the Mariners’ three. Considering how big Alex Tosi’s strike zone was in Game 1, they really have done a solid job of not chasing.
