Toyota is recalling 32,733 vehicles in Canada due to a defect in rearview cameras that may increase the risk of accidents. The recall affects all Toyota Sequoia models from 2023 to 2025 and Tundra models from 2022 to 2025 that are equipped with a 14-inch multimedia display.

Transport Canada reported that under certain conditions, the defect could lead to display errors with the rearview camera. This may result in an incorrect or missing image of the vehicle's surroundings. The agency stated, "A rearview camera image that doesn’t display correctly could reduce a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash."

Toyota plans to notify owners of the affected vehicles in writing. The company will advise them to visit a dealership to update the multimedia display software. Vehicle owners can also check Toyota's recall database to determine if their vehicle is included in the recall.

This recall is part of a series of vehicle recalls issued by Transport Canada in recent weeks, highlighting ongoing safety concerns in the automotive industry.
