The family of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala and their attorney spoke Monday morning following the reopening of Stardust Racers at Epic Universe over the weekend.
Less than three weeks ago, Rodriguez Zavala was found unresponsive after riding the roller coaster. He later died at a hospital. Zavala used a wheelchair because of a spinal condition.
The medical examiner said he later died from multiple blunt force injuries.
The family's attorney, Ben Crump, called out a statement made by Epic Universe following the incident, saying "safety is at the forefront of everything we do."
Crump criticized the company, saying "those words ring hollow" and that he does not believe safety is one of their priorities.
The family expressed their disappointment in the reopening of the ride, asking if the comp
