SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WFRV) - The man accused of shooting a Canadian tourist dead in Sheboygan Falls appeared in court Monday morning for a status conference.

According to court records, 35-year-old Luis Cruz-Burgos appeared in court via video with an interpreter, but without an attorney.

The court says the Public Defender's office has confirmed Cruz-Burgos to be eligible for appointment. The defendant has reportedly waived the time limits to have a preliminary hearing to allow for the Public Defender's office to appoint an attorney.

Cruz-Burgos is facing a 1st-Degree Reckless Homicide charge for his accused role in the shooting and killing of 32-year-old Giovanni "Mike" Robinson on September 24.

He is expected to be in court again for another status conference at 10:00 a.m. on October 20.
