At least two people are dead, and a dozen people are injured from a shooting in Montgomery, Alabama , after several gunmen opened fire on a crowd in what authorities are labeling a "senseless" and "reckless" act.

The mass shooting occurred in the downtown area in the city's busy nightlife district on Saturday, Oct. 4, according to Montgomery Police Chief James Graboys at a news conference.

It was sparked "by a disagreement that could have been avoided, should have been avoided," Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said. Law enforcement officers were nearby when the shooting erupted.

Authorities are looking for the potential suspects, and Reed, along with other local officials, has offered a $50,000 reward. The Central Alabama CrimeStoppers also pledged $5,000.
