A carjacker stole a vehicle at knifepoint in Vernon on Sunday and police are searching for the culprit.

The victim was outside on Vernon Avenue when the carjacker, armed with a knife, stole their Hyundai Kona, left the scene and later hit an East Hartford police cruiser, Vernon police said.

The stolen Hyundai was later recovered in Manchester, but police haven’t found the person who stole it.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Vernon Police Department.
