Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condemned the attack on BJP MP Khagen Murmu and party MLA Dr Shankar Ghosh in West Bengal, calling it “outright appalling” and evidence of the state’s “pathetic law and order situation.”
Murmu and Ghosh were reportedly assaulted while distributing relief materials to flood-affected communities in Jalpaiguri’s Nagrakata area. The two leaders were on the ground assisting residents hit by torrential rains, landslides, and flash floods when a mob allegedly pelted stones at them, leaving Murmu injured.
