D.C. Councilmember Brooke Pinto officially announced on Monday her campaign to run for the U.S. House delegate seat currently held by Eleanor Holmes Norton.

“In this moment, D.C. residents across the city are asking ourselves how we can stand up for D.C., fight for our future, and fight for our values,” Pinto said in a press release.

“I’m running for Congress to represent DC on Capitol Hill – to fight for our self governance, for a fair economy, for public safety, and for our families.
