A UK comedy icon has revealed that she was ‘turned down’ for a presenting job on The Great British Bake Off.

The popular Channel 4 cooking series is currently fronted by This Morning star Alison Hammond and comedian Noel Fielding.

Back when the popular programme premiered on the BBC in 2010, iconic duo Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins introduced all the action from the famous white tent.

Noel was initially joined by Sandi Toksvig when they were brought in to replace Mel and Sue when they left together in 2017 and the series moved to Channel 4 .

After Sandi’s departure following three seasons, Matt Lucas took over alongside Noel before Alison joined in 2023.
