DEDHAM, Mass. —

One allegation was dismissed from the lawsuit facing Karen Read, but a judge is allowing most of the other claims in the case to continue forward.

Read was found not guilty of murder this summer after her second high-profile trial in the death of Boston police officer John O'Keefe, her boyfriend, but guilty of a lesser charge of drunken driving. Separately, O'Keefe's family sued Read and two Canton bars where the couple was drinking in the hours before his death.

O'Keefe was found dead during a snowstorm on Jan. 29, 2022.

Judge Daniel O'Shea, of the Plymouth County Superior Court, issued a ruling on Friday that allowed Read's motion to dismiss an allegation of negligent infliction of emotional distress on the part of O'Keefe's niece. O'Shea's decision was based on the
