NORMAN — Oklahoma kicker Tate Sandell was named the Southeastern Conference co-special teams player of the week on Monday.
Sandell was 3-for-3 on field goals and 5-for-5 on extra points in No. 5 OU’s 44-0 win over Kent State on Saturday.
Sandell’s field goal makes were from 49, 39 and 55 yards. The 55-yarder tied for the seventh longest make in OU history and the fourth longest at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
Since missing his first field goal attempt of the season, the UTSA transfer Sandell is now 9-for-10 on the year with nine straight makes. He has gone a perfect 18-for-18 on PATs.
Sandell shares the SEC weekly award with Florida receiver Taylor Spierto, who blocked a punt for a safety in the Gators’ win over Texas on Saturday.
