CINCINNATI, Ohio --Despite missing their top cornerback and starting left tackle, the Detroit Lions rolled to their fourth straight victory.
The Lions bullied the Cincinnati Bengals for most of the game, then held off a late surge to hang on for the 37-24 win in Week 5 action on Sunday.
Detroit’s defense started the game on a bright note for the first time this season. Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard’s group had surrendered a touchdown on every opening drive through four games. But they got their stop against the Bengals, and the strong first half and takeaways opened the door for the Lions to coast off the big lead.
The defense created three takeaways, all via interceptions from Bengals quarterback Jake Browning. Joe Burrow is out with an injury, pushing Browning under center, an
