TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida prosecutors are giving new information on their case against a man who killed a police officer last month.
Volusia County deputies said on Sept. 15, Eduardo Felipe Labrada Machado, 24, gunned down David Jewell, 45, at an Ormond-by-the-Sea Circle K. Jewell was an Edgewater police officer and had been off-duty at the time.
Machado, who worked at the gas station, shot Jewell 24 times.
“I know when I went to bed last night, my prayer was that he didn’t feel anything, that the first shot killed him and everything else that happened afterwards,” Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said at a press conference on Sept. 16.
