BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus is demanding an independent investigation into the Kyren Lacy case after troubling details emerged Friday that appear to show the story Louisiana State Police initially told the public was not accurate.

Lacy, a former LSU football standout, died by suicide earlier this year, just weeks after State Police accused him of causing a fatal crash in Lafourche Parish.

Videos released by Lacy’s lawyer on Friday to HTV in Houma appear to show Lacy’s vehicle was actually behind the crash. And, a trooper’s body camera shows him in the scene, coaching a witness on what to write down in the report.

“That is not how this story was painted ever,” Matt Ory, an attorney representing the Lacy family, told Martin Folse of HTV.
