An active-duty member of the Framingham Fire Department recently died, the department announced on Monday morning .

Keith Cashman dedicated 10 years of service to the Framingham department and nearly five years in Fall River, according to a letter by Framingham’s Fire Chief Michael Dutcher originally written on Oct. 4.

“He was a real professional,” Dutcher said in a phone interview on Monday. “A guy that just came to work and did his job. His professionalism was beyond reproach.”

He was a member of Group 3, Station 5, Rescue 1 at the time of his death.

“RIP, brother,” a post from the department’s social media states. “We’ll take it from here.”

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced, nor has a cause of death been released.
