ATHENS TWP., (WETM) — The identity of the man who was shot in Athens Township and later died on Friday has been released, according to information from the Bradford County Coroner.
Officials identified John J. Kraus, 59, as the man who was shot on Friday, Oct. 3, at his home on Vista Drive in Athens Township, the Coroner said.
Kraus was taken to the hospital just before 4 p.m., but later died at 5:30 p.m. as a result of his injuries.
An autopsy was done, where the coroner determined the cause of death to be the gunshot wounds to Kraus's torso. The manner of his death was ruled a homicide, the coroner's office said.
Reports of the gunshots came in around 3:39 p.m. on Friday, where Kraus was found. The shooting was deemed to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
