Cr Michelle Hurn called on city staff at last month’s council meeting to gather data around the number of tree and limb falls in the city, mature trees removed because of structural concerns, insurance claims against the city where damage had been caused to people or property by falling trees and limbs, and comparisons with other local governments.
Cr Hurn also requested details on how the city managed the performance of its arboricultural services contractor.
She said the admittedly “peculiar” motion came about because of some concerning tree falls in the city, in particular a fall next to Albany Highway near Richmond St
