LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Attorneys for former Louisville police officer Brett Hankison are requesting to postpone the start of his prison sentence, according to a court document.

The motion says Hankison is set to begin his sentence on Thursday, Oct. 9, which Hankison's attorneys want to delay by 60 to 90 days as he appeals "both the conviction and the sentence imposed in this case."  

“Additional time is necessary to permit this court to rule on the Motion for Bond and time for Mr. Hankison to present a Motion for Bond and time for Mr. Hankison to present a Motion to the Sixth Circuit if necessary,” the document reads.
