Quarterback Jalen Woods returned to Southern football practice last week, coach Terrence Graves said Monday during the Southwestern Athletic Conference coaches virtual media availability.

Woods, a redshirt sophomore, hasn't played since Aug. 30 after suffering a neck and head injury during the Mississippi Valley State game. The hit required him to be placed in concussion protocol.

Graves said that Woods' participation in practice during the bye week does not make him automatically available to play in Southern’s upcoming contest against Bethune-Cookman at 2 p.m. Saturday at Daytona Stadium in Daytona Beach, Florida.

“We'll see how it goes this week, and then the doctors will let me know where we are with that,” Graves said.
