While many Virginia Democrats have condemned the text messages sent by Democratic candidate for Virginia Attorney General, Jay Jones, in 2022, when he wished for the death of a former Republican leader in the House of Delegates, as well as the deaths of Republican's children, no prominent Democrat has called for his resignation from the race.
Delegate Carrie Coyner (R-Chester) confirmed to The Virginia Star on Friday that Jones sent the text messages in August 2022, when he told Coyner that he would kill former Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilbert twice if given a gun, two bullets, and the option of executing Gilbert or either of the genocidal dictators, Adolf Hitler of Nazi Germany or Pol Pot of Cambodia.
