The new Hulu docuseries “Death in Apartment 63: What Happened to Ellen Greenberg?” tells the story of a woman whose death was ruled a suicide despite her 20 stab wounds.

Ellen died at age 27 in January 2011. Her fiancé, Samuel Goldberg, called 911 to report her death, claiming that he’d found her body in their apartment when he returned from the gym. During the 911 call, Samuel theorized that Ellen had either “stabbed herself” or “fell on a knife.”

Although the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office initially ruled Ellen’s death a homicide, the office changed its conclusion to suicide in February 2011. Ellen’s family has never believed that Ellen took her own life.
