Charlotte, N.C.- Syracuse University will honor the legacy of former basketball guard Tiana Mangakahia during the 2025-26 season.

SU coach Felisha Legette-Jack said she and SU athletic director John Wildhack are talking about ways to remember Mangakahia, who died September 11 at age 30 in her hometown of Brisbane, Australia.

Mangakahia was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2019 and had two surgeries and eight rounds of chemotherapy before returning to the Orange for her final year of eligibility. She played professionally, retired from the game and then returned to basketball as recently as last season in Australia, before cancer claimed her.

A dynamic point guard, she was a star at Syracuse from 2017-2021, earning All-American and All-ACC honors.
