NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — It's National Fire Prevention Week, and city officials are reminding you how to keep your family safe.

In 2024, the City of New Haven saw 209 fires, resulting in 19 injuries and the temporary displacement of 196 residents, according to city officials. To date, there have been 190 fires, 28 injuries, and the temporary displacement of 171 residents.

Through a partnership with the American Red Cross, residents can access free smoke alarms, bed shaker alarms, alarm installations, and other home fire safety resources at SoundTheAlarm.org/Connecticut or by calling (877) 287-3327.
