WATERFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Amber Steady was a young wife and mother when she learned she had breast cancer.
"I needed some cysts checked out by ultrasound, and then a mammogram was done the same day, and then I had a biopsy three days later, and then I found out the results three days later."
"The first thought in my head was Oh my gosh, I'm going to die and I was staring at my seven- to eight-month-old son," Steady said.
She had been breastfeeding her son when she noticed something was not right.
"I actually thought that I had a clogged milk duct when, actually, it was a tumor and the whole left breast was completely cancerous," Steady said.
She then began her treatment journey, which included chemotherapy, radiation and a double mastectomy. Through it all, her positive attitude inspi
