SUTTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — A body was recovered from the Elk River in Sutton on Sunday, and the investigation is ongoing.

According to a release from the West Virginia State Police, the Sutton Detachment responded to a rural area near Shiloh Church in Braxton County Sunday when fishermen in the area reported possible human remains, which were recovered with assistance from the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department.

The remains were confirmed to be those of an adult male and were transported to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, which took place on Monday, Oct. 6. As of Monday afternoon, the victim has not been identified.
