WARTBURG, Tenn — A Morgan County deputy accused in the shooting death of a Harriman man will stand trial June 2.
The trial date was set Monday for Charles Raymond Faircloth, 57, a sheriff's deputy now on leave while facing prosecution in the May 2 killing of John A. Cox, 28.
In advance of the trial, Morgan County Criminal Court Judge Jeff Wicks also set a March 9 hearing date for Faircloth, who is out on bond.
A Morgan County grand jury indicted Faircloth on May 19 on counts of criminally negligent homicide and official misconduct in Cox's killing. Faircloth shot Cox four times in the torso while responding to a call at the Cox family home on Ray Cross Road, an autopsy shows.
