ALCOA, Tenn. — A jury found a man guilty in a deadly 2022 road rage crash on Alcoa Highway.
Derek Geary, now 61, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter and three counts of felony reckless endangerment.
On the morning of Sept. 17, 2022, Geary was driving north on Alcoa Highway with three kids in the back of his Jeep. Alcoa Police Department officers said he became involved in a road rage incident with another car driving north, driven by 34-year-old William Carroll of Maryville.
Police said the Jeep crossed two lanes of traffic and hit Carroll's car. Both vehicles hit a guardrail barrier, flipping Geary's Jeep upside down with the children inside.
Carroll was pronounced dead at University of Tennessee Medical Center. The three children were treated for injuries
