VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. -- Authorities have arrested a man for his alleged role in the murder of a missing person in western Indiana.

According to Indiana State Police, detectives launched an investigation in Vermillion County on Sunday to locate a person who was reported as missing in Clinton.

As their investigation unfolded, ISP said detectives discovered evidence indicating that the missing individual was reportedly murdered. Nicholas Yates, 20, of Clinton, was taken into custody.

He is currently being kept at the Vermillion County Jail, where he faces a preliminary murder charge. ISP said it is withholding the name of the deceased individual until the Vermillion County Coroner's Office can make an identification.
