American Airlines has made a change to is carry-on baggage process.

In a statement to KTLA -TV in Los Angeles , American Airlines said it will soon remove bag sizers from its gate areas across the country with the goal of simplifying the boarding experience.

The new policy is not an invitation to bring larger carry-on bags onto flights, the airline stressed, but confirmed it wants to make boarding processes run more efficiently.

Bag sizers will remain in the lobby for customers to determine on their own whether their carry-on will fit in the overhead bin.

“Team members will continue to monitor carry-on baggage in the lobby and at the gate, and oversized items will still be required to be checked in ahead of the flight,” the statement to KTLA said.
