DETROIT – Michael Brandsegg-Nygard celebrated his 20th birthday Sunday at a sushi restaurant with fellow rookies Axel Sandin-Pellikka and Emmitt Finnie.

A day later all three apparently can celebrate making the Detroit Red Wings’ season-opening roster.
