ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Rock Hill school district is working to strengthen school safety through a proactive FEMA training program that will help staff members know what to do in the event of a disaster .
The goal is to make teachers and faculty feel as prepared as possible in case of any kind of emergency, whether it's an instance of violence or a natural disaster.
“When emergencies happen, the key to management is that we thought about it ahead of time,” Superintendent Deborah Elder said.
Andrew Jones, the district's executive director of safety and emergency management, says that’s why they took part in Monday’s seven-hour training.
