Los Angeles Chargers starting running back Omarion Hampton will be placed on injured reserve due to an ankle injury, coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday.

By going on IR, Hampton will miss at least the next four games.

The rookie sustained the injury in the Chargers' 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders .

It's the second major setback for the Chargers' running back depth chart this year. Veteran Najee Harris sustained a season-ending Achilles injury last month.

Hampton has rushed for 314 yards and two touchdowns this season. He also has 20 receptions and 136 yards receiving.
