KALAMAZOO, MI –– The countdown to Selection Sunday and Michigan’s high school state playoffs continue to inch closer.

As it stands right now, several Southwest Michigan squads would be postseason-bound.

If the season ended today, 16 Kalamazoo-area teams would punch tickets to the playoffs including four undefeated teams –– Portage Central, White Pigeon, Martin and Mendon –– with playoff rankings inside their respective top 10s.

But there’s still much to be decided with four weeks left in the regular season.

Just 32 teams make the playoffs from each 11-player division, while 15 teams make the cut from each 8-player division.
