STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Richmond University Medical Center has received a $25,000 grant to expand colon cancer screening among low-income and uninsured residents on Staten Island.
The grant from the Harry S. Black & Allon Fuller Fund is meant to improve early detection, and reduce disparities in cancer outcomes among those facing the highest barriers to care.
“Colon cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related death, yet it’s one of the most preventable with timely screening and early detection,” said RUMC President and CEO Daniel J. Messina. “This funding allows us to continue breaking down barriers and reaching those who need care most.”
