Seattle — It was exactly the perspective Will Vest needed at the time.

Back on Sept. 20 , the Tigers had just lost their fifth straight game, their eighth in the last nine and their lead in the AL Central Division had shrunk to one game. Vest got nicked for four singles and two runs by the Atlanta Braves in the ninth inning, blowing a one-run lead.

“As a team and for myself, probably the lowest point of the season,” Vest said.

There was a time, not that long ago, when Vest would sit with that bad feeling, carry it home with him, bring it to the yard the next day and let it fuel his preparation for the next outing.

Not anymore. When Vest gets home, good game, bad game, whatever, there are a couple of boys — 3-year-old Bennett and 13-month-old Hudson Wyatt — there waiting on him.
