ATHENS TWP, Pa. (WETM) — The Athens Township Police Department released more information on the shooting of a man inside his home on Friday, Oct. 3.
John J. Kraus, 59, died at the Robert Packer Hospital on Friday after he was shot twice by another man after an altercation inside his home, police said.
Police learned that Kraus lived at the house with his mother, and sometime before the altercation happened, two people were at the home visiting with his mother. The two were lawfully inside the home by invitation, police said.
According to witness accounts, Kraus, without being provoked, violently attacked and assaulted one of the people visiting, police said. Kraus allegedly threw the man to the floor in the living room area, pinning him, and repeatedly hit the person in the head and fac
