CLEVELAND, Ohio — Police say they recovered two stolen cars amid an investigation into thefts on Cleveland’s West Side.
At 11:30 p.m. Sunday, officers noticed the pair of cars and followed them, seeking an opportunity to safely arrest the drivers, said Sgt. Wilfredo Diaz, a spokesman for the department.
But before police could do so, a 20-year-old in one of the stolen cars was shot, and the car he was inside crashed near West 30th Street and Monroe Avenue.
The 20-year-old, who has not been named, remains hospitalized, and charges of receiving stolen property are pending, Diaz said.
Police are still trying to figure out who shot the 20-year-old and who was responsible for stealing the cars, Diaz said.
Police recovered the second stolen car later. Authorities believe the thieves who sto
