Trigg County becomes the center of the country ham universe once again this weekend.
Each October, tens of thousands of people flock to the Country Ham Festival, happening this Friday and Saturday. Celebrating 49 years, the "Big Pig Shindig" is Trigg County’s signature tourism event.
The signature event since 1985 is the baking of a giant ham biscuit, 10 feet in diameter. It's billed as Kentucky's largest ham biscuit. A forklift is required to lift the 4,000-pound biscuit into a giant oven. When it comes out, it'll feed more than a thousand festivalgoers on Saturday.
There's much more than country ham to enjoy during the event. More than 200 vendors sell their wares, from food to artisan crafts, and there is live music both days.
Other events include pageants, ag exhibits, barrel racin
