Skip Schumaker is the new manager for the Texas Rangers. The team agreed on a four-year contract with the former NL Manager of the year, who had been with the Rangers for the past year as a senior advisor.

The deal with Schumaker was announced on Friday, Oct. 3, after Chris Young, the president of baseball operations, acknowledged that the Rangers were focused on a candidate already working with them to replace Bruce Bochy.

Schumaker, 45, was the 2023 NL Manager of the Year when Miami went 84-78 and made the fourth postseason appearance in club history.

That was the same year the Texas Rangers, with Bochy in his debut there, won their only World Series championship.
