A horse has died after winning a race at Los Alamitos Race Course, state officials said Monday.
Warm Springs, a 2-year-old filly, was taken off by ambulance after finishing first in Saturday’s ninth race, according to the official race chart. Her death is listed as “non-muscoluskeletal” on the California Horse Racing Board’s website, but no further information about the death was immediately available.
Warm Springs had raced five times in her career, all at Los Alamitos, with two first-place finishes.
She is the 12th horse to die from a racing or training injury at the Cypress track this year.
