Federal authorities say a ranking Latin King street gang member sought the murder of top Border Patrol official Gregory Bovino by sending a Snapchat message that read, “10k if u take him down.”

The allegations are contained in a federal criminal complaint that only identifies the alleged target as “a senior law enforcement member of the Border Patrol Operation ‘Midway Blitz’ in Chicago.” But Bovino was the target, a federal law enforcement source in Chicago has confirmed for the Sun-Times.

Juan Espinoza Martinez, 37, of Chicago is now charged with murder for hire. The feds leveled the charges as other Trump administration lawyers found themselves battling multiple lawsuits by claiming immigration agents are in danger and in need of protection around Chicago.
