CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Charleston County deputies arrested a man after a pursuit with a stolen vehicle on Monday morning.

Jose Sanchez-Morales, 18, is charged with failing to stop for a blue light and possessing a stolen vehicle, according to an incident report.

Deputies were alerted at 3 a.m. to a stolen Kia Optima. The vehicle was detected using an automatic license plate reader traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 78.

Deputies saw the vehicle pass and tried to perform a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. This prompted a pursuit on U.S. Highway 78 toward Ingleside Boulevard, reaching speeds up to 85 mph.

The vehicle lost control on Ingleside Boulevard and drove into the opposite lane, and hit a median. This caused disabling damage to the front tires.
