SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - WNDU 16 News Now is getting brand new information from people living in Eddy Street Commons about the extensive safety measures that are planned after a recent stretch crime and gunfire in the area.
According to a letter sent to residents of The Foundry apartments, 16 South Bend police officers will rotate shifts on Friday and Saturday nights and Notre Dame game days.
“South Bend Police Department now has 16 officers on night shifts, working in pairs of 2-3 that will be patrolling Eddy Street from Angela to Trader Joes and will be walking behind buildings,” the letter reads. “A full-time resident officer for The Foundry is in the works. He would live onsite and would be reachable through our after-hours phone number similar to reaching our Emergency Maintenance
