SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) -- A series of hearings hosted by the Public Service Commission of South Carolina (PSCSC) began Monday in Spartanburg, as part of an effort to hear public comment about a potential Duke Energy rate increase.

According to the electric utility company, an application to the Public Service Commission of South Carolina (PSCSC) is asking for a revenue increase of $150.5 million, or 7.7%.
If rates are approved, the bill for customers using 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month would increase by $10.38 per month, while commercial customers' bills would go up by about 5.4% and industrial customers bills would increase by 5.2%.
