BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus argued in court Monday that Attorney General Liz Murrill should not be representing the state in the ongoing redistricting battle at the U.S. Supreme Court.
Their plea was denied by Judge Tiffany Foxworth-Roberts, who cited an issue with the separation of powers.
Rep. Edmond Jordan and State Senator Jay Luneau represented the caucus at the 19th Judicial District Court. They argued that since Murrill has brought up issues with Section Two of the Voting Rights Act in her brief filed to the U.S. Supreme Court, she is not accurately representing the will of the people in this matter.
