PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Troopers say a man was drunk and high when he crashed on Interstate 10 in west Phoenix, killing a 6-year-old girl and seriously injuring another child on Sunday evening.

Court records stated Turatsinze Gadi, 21, was booked into jail on second-degree murder, endangerment, aggravated assault, and failure to stay at the scene of an accident involving death.

In arresting documents, troopers said witnesses reported seeing the driver of a Toyota Tundra pickup truck speeding in and out of traffic moments before crashing into a Toyota Corolla sedan and fleeing. He continued onto the Loop 202 freeway before coming to a stop about two miles from the crash scene, DPS said.

At that point, Gadi exited the truck and walked towards the QuikTrip, where he was arrested and taken
